Network Operations Center | Technician (IT&E-2105)

This position performs skilled/technical work in an operational environment which monitors applications, services, systems, and network. Must have the flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment with changing priorities.

 

Responsibilities

 

The Employee will:

  • Know and uphold the established IT&E mission, policies and procedures, IT&E and department objectives, quality assurance and safety programs and standards.
  • Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify problems with systems, applications, network, and services.
    • Monitor key alerts and notifications and drive response and resolution
    • Perform basic restoration actions as necessary
    • Trouble ticket response and resolution. Document all pertinent information in trouble ticket system.
    • Outage detection, symptom collection, and communicate status. Notify and escalate as warranted.
    • Coordinate activities with technical departments to trouble shoot and restore equipment failures. Notify and escalate as warranted.
  • Receive, coordinate, approve and support maintenance activities.
  • Provide internal and external customer assistance while corresponding via telephone, email, SMS, and team applications.
  • Contact internal and external customers proactively regarding service affecting outages. Coordinate with vendors as needed to resolve service affecting outages.
  • Ability to be flexible and successfully respond to multiple work pressures, with a sense of urgency.
  • Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned or required.
  • Follow detailed instructions to perform network basic break/fix functions.


Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or military service preferred.
  • Three years of progressive experience in telecommunications, network operations, or technical support related field. Reduce to two years of progressive experience in related fields if candidate possess an associate degree or has military service.

 

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

 

  • Training in Data, Voice or Video Network Technologies is a plus.
  • ITIL, CompTIA , Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCSE preferred but not required.


Physical Demands


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The physical activity of this position includes, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling, repetitive motions – making substantial movements of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers, grasping, feeling, Talking-Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, repetitive motions.

The physical requirements of this position involve Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.


Working Conditions


The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work).

 

About IT&E


Formerly Micronesian Telecommunications Corp, IT&E was a part of Verizon International. CITADEL acquired IT&E in 2005 after successfully navigating the US CIFUS process and the Federal Communications Commission. In 2006, a partnership was established with Sumitomo Corporation, one of Japan’s largest trading houses, which invested in the company as part of its telecommunications push. The company acquired IT&E in Guam, and together, became the largest wireless provider in Micronesia. The entire company was renamed IT&E. IT&E was the first in the region to offer 3G services with the launch of CDMA EVDO in 2009. It soon followed with the launch of 4G LTE in 2011.
